Fortnite’s brand building feature returns

The building feature in Fortnite, an online multiplayer video game, has been re-enabled after being briefly disabled in the game’s final season.

The combat-focused attitude persists in the previously introduced Zero Build mode, even though the build function has returned. At the moment, both versions of the game co-exist, with standard and Zero Build war royale queues accessible for Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads.

Harvesting resources and building defensive constructs has long been a distinctive feature of Fortnite, helping to set it apart from rival battle royale games such as PUBG and Apex Legends, so its temporary demise was all the more surprising.

According to The Verge, the lack of building has been made up for somewhat by the addition of mechanics designed to make the game more mobile, including climbing and a faster sprint. These changes were part of a series of mobility-related upgrades dating back several years.

With the launch of its current season, Fortnite developer Epic Games is donating all proceeds from the game to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine through April 3. As of March 29, the effort has raised more than $100 million.
