IL Department to Build $6.5 Million Fire Hall and Administration Building

GODFREY, Ill. – Godfrey Fire Protection District will construct a new $6.5 million fire hall and administration building to consolidate operations. The new 15,000 square foot facility will replace the district’s two existing fire stations, which lack sufficient space for modern fire and emergency service vehicles and equipment. Relocating Godfrey Fire Services to a single building with all equipment housed in a central location will allow for better and more efficient dispatch of manpower during emergency response.

The modern, state-of-the-art facility will include drive-in device bays, space for medical and other supplies as well as training and administration areas such as meeting rooms, offices and living quarters. The location at 3023 Godfrey Road in Godfrey, IL is more central and has room for growth to meet the ever-increasing demand for emergency services.

“This important project will allow the Fire District to operate more efficiently while strengthening our District’s mission to protect the lives and properties of the citizens of the Village of Godfrey,” said Terry Ford, Chairman of the District Fire District Board of Directors. fires.

The construction project is funded by a bond that was overwhelmingly approved in April 2021 by local voters. The bond also funds the purchase of essential and updated emergency equipment, including heart monitors and firefighter gear, as well as the replacement of obsolete vehicles that are increasingly expensive to maintain.

“The directors and project team are working diligently to deliver this project in a way that meets all of our objectives despite the current construction market challenges and supply chain difficulties,” said Gerard Fischer, Secretary/Treasurer of the Fire District Board of Trustees.

Construction of the facility will begin this fall and will be complete by the end of 2023.
