MLB DFS 6/20/22 – Ben’s Building Blocks

Welcome to our MLB DFS, DraftKings, and FanDuel building block picks for 6/20/22! In this article, I’ll detail the top games overall for today’s main roster. Last year was a really big year for MLB’s Team Karma, and we’re looking to continue that success in 2022. I’ll be providing baseline plays for every major slate (and baseball day) this season – you can access it as well as our premium discord here. Let’s get to the plays…

Above is an example of the Core Plays distributed to subscribers on Friday, May 13

Gerrit Cole

We have big name pitchers on tonight’s roster, but Gerrit Cole will once again be the best cash game option against the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa has been icy at plate over the past month with a .283 team wOBA and a combined strikeout rate of 24%. Cole had a tough outing a few starts ago, but his numbers have remained elite in 2022 with a 33% strikeout rate. We also have a large sample of Cole compared to this Rays lineup – which translates to a .278 wOBA allowed and a strikeout rate of 33.5%. You can still swing in tournaments, but he’s the better option at both venues tonight.

Lance Lynn

I think the double spend with Cole + his opponent, Shane McClanahan, is more than in play – but Lynn is just too cheap for me. He recorded over 80 pitches on his first start, so we only have to worry about potential rust, not his overall workload. I also really like this match-up for him. Toronto is a good base formation, but they are extremely right-handed. In recent seasons, Lynn has allowed just a .217 wOBA right-handed with a strikeout rate of nearly 30%. He plans to see seven right-handed hitters tonight, which bodes well for him. He was pretty unlucky in his first start, and I think he’s the best scorer per dollar played on DraftKings tonight – and viable in any format.

building blocks

Mike Trout

With Lynn’s savings at SP, we’ll have room to spend on all the bats we want… and how are we making Mike Trout disappear right now? He’s hit five home runs in five days and faces a middling southpaw in Kris Bubic tonight. Bubic throws a ton of fastballs from both sides of the plate, so Trout should know what’s coming and he has absolute video game numbers against left-handed throwing. It is the top spender in all formats on both sites for Monday.

Oneil Cruz

It’s a prize game, Cruz is the Pirates’ top prospect and is in the roster tonight at the minimum prize pool of $2,000 on DraftKings. If you’re using Lance Lynn, I don’t know if you’ll really need the savings it provides, but if you go with two expensive launchers, he’ll be a crucial part of roster building.

bold call

Gerrit Cole and Shane McClanahan both carry a no-hitter in the seventh!
