This decentralized Gamefi project builds a metaverse filled with mecha

When it comes to games, there are certain genres that are still in fashion. Shooting RPG. Survival games. Immersive action-adventure odyssey focused on exploration and discovery. And, of course, fighting games that revolve around towering fighting machines known as mecha.

It’s no surprise, of course. Talking about robotics with cannons for weapons has wide appeal, as evidenced by the success of the Transformers franchise, a series that grossed $ 4.86 billion at the global box office. Which makes it the 13th highest-grossing movie franchise of all time.

But what happens when the mecha enters the metaverse? That’s a question a new blockchain-based game project wants to answer.

Mecha-verse massacre

An adrenaline-pumping Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG) that exploits digital currency and NFTs to offer players endless earning opportunities, Mech morphing takes place in a vast virtual world that represents Earth around 2107.

The climate catastrophists have been justified: the world is inundated with biblical floods, brutal snowstorms and scorching heat waves. In this ruthless environment, a tyrant named Sarin ascended the throne. A sort of futuristic Leopold, Sarin amassed precious resources (metals, fossil fuels, etc.) for himself and his feudal lords while waging a cruel campaign against the general population. Just to emphasize his nastiness, old Sarin also has an army of mass-produced cyborgs to do whatever he wants.

Fortunately, a cast of cyberpunk rebels face Sarin’s despotic regime, sourcing and marketing natural resources and the mecha they create. The players of this nightmarish metaverse therefore have a silver lining: the more materials they can accumulate, the more skills, armor and weapons they can find, the stronger their characters will become. Opportunities to play to win (P2E) abound, with players able to earn financial rewards for their exploits under Sarin’s ruthless dictatorship.

Battles, of course, are a most of the game – and players improve the stamina of their characters with each victory over opposing mobs and cyborgs. Skirmishes are AI generated based on stats and combatant health (as verified by Chain link), as well as the random attributes of the environment in which the battles take place. The developers of Mecha Morphing have also tipped that PvP (player versus player) will be implemented in the future, after which players will be able to challenge other rebels to a duel.

In the initial rollout however, the main action will consist of PvE (player vs. environment), arena battles, a bounty mode (complete tasks to earn prizes) and looting, where characters launch raids on regions that contain valuable resources. It is also possible to “forge” weapons and armor by assembling the materials needed to produce a powerful weapon which can then be used on the battlefield. With virtually all items tokenized as NFTs (including Lots), players are free to trade them in the Marketplace.

So, a talented and enterprising player could create a mini-economy based solely on upgrading characters, winning battles, and selling coveted assets and mechas in the market for profit. If a player is fortunate enough to acquire an NFT land – and the land is rich in resources – the token holder can also choose to trade materials while keeping the land itself as a long-term investment. You see, land-based NFT token holders get collect resources the earth produces regularly. That said, the land can lose value if looters manage to loot its precious materials – which can, in turn, be used to forge better weapons.

Mecha Market

Projects like Mecha Morphing seek to combine engaging graphics and engaging gameplay with the profit-generating potential of DeFi protocols – primarily commerce, in this case.

So, away from the scorched earth landscape and skyscraper-tall cyborgs, an indoor market makes shopping easy using the in-game currency, $ MMC. With $ MMC, players can purchase gacha boxes, mystery chests containing gear, tokens, powerful mechas, and potions. As mentioned, they can also mark valuable materials from other players.

Another nifty part of the game is its achievement system, which tracks how much the player has won over their lifetime and how many levels they have reached. When a certain threshold is crossed, the player is rewarded with a status which grants him the right to brag and unlocks improved earnings calculations.

Mecha Morphing is expected to launch its testnet on December 27, with an IDO and mainnet launch slated for the first quarter of 2022. Having received investment from a large number of high-profile blockchain VCs (Rarestone Capital, Innovion and Shima Capital for n ‘ to name a few), the ARPG seems like a strong bet to become a major player in the growing mecha-verse ecosystem.
